Why Married People Live Longer Than Single ?

November 21, 2007

I wrote about 2 dating tips.(1.Why Some People Fail at Relationships Over and Over? and 2.Success Tips to Keep in Mind When Dating ) Now is good time to talking about why we should get marry and why married is good? It certainly feels that way! No but seriously, there is evidence that people who are married happily live longer than singletons, but why should this be the case, why would it be that someone who spends their life with another person should live a longer life than those who are on their own? There are a number of answers, and some of them are statistical anomalies rather than actual evidence for methods of increasing longevity, and so we’ll take a look at these first, as this is where the answer to whether married people live longer, and that the real question that we should ask is:

Why would single people live a shorter life?

This is where the skew in the statistics takes place.

Have you ever been cut up at the traffic lights by a seventeen year old kid who is driving too fast in daddy’s car?

Ever wondered what happens to that kid a mile down the road?

OK, they don’t all die, but a large number do every year. All of them are single because they are too young to get married, so that drags down the average age of when a single person dies.

Next up, single people who don’t take good care of themselves. If a person lives alone, the chances are that they will eat a poorer diet than someone who is in a relationship. Their food will often be convenience food that is high in fat and low in nutrients. This kills them. A really bad diet coupled with too many evenings slumped in front of the television or drinking in a singles bar is not a healthy lifestyle, and no, a quick and rather awkward dance at the end of the evening does not constitute a good exercise plan.

This category of person will probably start having heart problems in their mid forties, and be pretty much dead before they claim a pension – again, a lower average age than married people. When a married person dies, the chances are that they are a minimum of 25 years old in most western countries, and because they then live a life when not all of their meals are straight from the freezer and onto the plate via a microwave, they get a healthier body that will last longer. Of course, the thing that occurs to ask next is whether a happy marriage is what makes a person live longer, and the answer is a resounding yes.

If you don’t go out cheating, then the chances are that you drink less on a social level than people who do, you are also exposed to less stress in covering up any extra curricular activities, and do not expose yourself to as many possible diseases, meaning that you could well extend your life by being good. Being married may not make you live for longer than you would expect to with the body that you have, however, it is a lifestyle that is more conducive to a healthy life with a lower risk of accidental death than the single life. This article is not guarantee who married will live longer than single people. Anyway, married life has been still interesting to me.
