5 Simple Steps to Living a Healthy Lifestyle

February 2, 2008

Again, to talking about healthy lifestyle that helps you on healthy living. I found many articles that write to healthy life, but i just found this five simple steps to re-talking again.

Living a healthy lifestyle is critical for good health with the ever-increasing demands of today. Simple steps can be made to improve one’s health and body. I recommend spending one hour a week, usually best on the weekend, planning out your food shopping for yourself and or family. It is best to eat a variety of foods to achieve optimum nutrition. We all like to eat some of the same foods on a regular basis, but it is good to branch out and try new things.

1) Avoid processed and packaged foods as they have lost much of their nutritional value.
It is important to have a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and grains, preferably organic, in your diet. Your can also cook a hormone free whole chicken or turkey on the weekend for sandwiches or salads. This will be a lot healthier than eating cold cuts, which are processed. Your body is designed to heal and repair itself; and without the aid of proper nutrition, your immune system will be compromised. Our bodies need the nutrients to regenerate and have healthier cells.

2) Don’t skip meals, your body is like a fire.
If you don’t give it proper fuel, it cannot burn fat or be healthy. It is best to consume most of your meals before 6pm. Most Americans consume most of their caloric intake late in the day or evening. Eating a good breakfast will jump-start your metabolism. If you don’t eat breakfast, you slow down your metabolism, and your body is sent into a starvation mode because you have gone a long period of time, usually eight to ten hours without food. Enjoy a bowl of oatmeal in the morning with walnuts and raisins or two eggs with whole grain bread and jam. This would be a healthy way to start the day, and include some fresh fruit with that meal.

3) Consume one to two tablespoons of organic flax seed per day.
It contains fiber, protein, nutrients and Omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential to good health. It is best to buy a bag of the whole seed and grind it right before consumption. This is best for optimum absorption by the body.

4) Try to reduce alcohol consumption, as it contains empty calories.
The fewer toxins you have in your body, the better you will feel and look. Too much alcohol can weaken the immune system and hinder absorption of important nutrients.

5) Get plenty of rest and exercise regularly with intensity.
Strength training is a good way to look and feel better. The many benefits are improved muscle tone, stronger bones, more confidence and improved overall body strength. Strength training can also help you lose body fat due to the fact that it increases your metabolic rate. It is also beneficial to take some down time to relieve stress. Elevated levels of cortisol, which is commonly the result of too much stress, can decrease muscle tissue and increase abdominal fat. Gardening, listening to music, casual walk or yoga are good ways to relax.

It ’s not longer this 5 step to healthy. Thanks
